I’m glad that Senator John Curtis has called for an investigation and hearing into Donald Trump Jr.’s recent wedding gift from a Russian oligarch close to Vladimir Putin. I’m also glad that Rep. Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, has launched an investigation into the same. We now need every other member of Congress to get on board. The secretive, close relationship between the son of a sitting U.S. President and a member of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s inner circle raises serious national security and public corruption concerns. And this was no small gift—according to Pro Publica “Kremlev secretly covered hundreds of thousands of dollars of expenses for Trump Jr.’s wedding.” An old saying says “he who pays the piper calls the tune.” Is Kremlev—or, even worse, Vladimir Putin—now calling Trump Jr.’s tune? Is he calling the President’s himself? This is dangerous and highly inappropriate. Congress needs to launch a full investigation now. Thanks.
