Please Protect RGGI. Don’t Trade Away Pennsylvania’s Clean Energy Future

To: Rep. Scialabba, Sen. Vogel

From: A constituent in Zelienople, PA

October 29

I urge you to oppose any budget deal that eliminates Pennsylvania’s participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) without a real replacement.  RGGI is the single most effective tool we have to meet Governor Shapiro’s goals of addressing climate change, creating and protecting energy jobs, and keeping power affordable and reliable. Governor Shapiro has said many times, “Doing nothing at this moment is not an option.”  Ending RGGI is worse than doing nothing. Abandoning RGGI with nothing in its place would be a total giveaway, leaving Pennsylvania with no plan to hold down energy costs, reduce pollution, or grow clean energy jobs.  Please stand up for Pennsylvania’s workers, consumers, and environment by rejecting any budget that trades away RGGI or our clean energy future.  Pennsylvania deserves a plan that protects jobs, consumers, and the environment – not a rollback.
