Vote against any proposal to rebrand Immigration and Customs Enforcement as "NICE." This isn't reform. It's a marketing gimmick designed to sanitize an agency responsible for 47 deaths in custody since January 2025 alone—the highest annual death toll in two decades.
Renée Nicole Macklin Good, a 37-year-old mother of three and U.S. citizen, was shot by ICE agent Jonathan Ross on January 7 while sitting in her car in Minneapolis. The administration called it "domestic terrorism," but Ross's own cellphone video showed a peaceful encounter. Her vehicle has been shrink-wrapped in an FBI warehouse for four months while federal authorities block state investigators from accessing evidence. Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse for the VA, was shot multiple times by Border Patrol agents on January 24 after filming them. The El Paso County Medical Examiner ruled it a homicide. Trump called him "an agitator and, perhaps, insurrectionist."
Changing the name doesn't change the fact that ICE has multi-year funding while TSA officers went unpaid for months. It doesn't explain why agents wear masks during enforcement operations but Trump ordered them removed at airports because he "didn't love the look."
Reject this rebrand. Demand independent investigations into every death in ICE custody and accountability for agents who make false statements.
