Uphold rule of law: Return wrongfully deported Abrego Garcia

To: Rep. Lawler, Sen. Gillibrand, Sen. Schumer

From: A verified voter in Cold Spring, NY

April 14

The situation with Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia's wrongful deportation is heinous. Deporting him to El Salvador despite a court order protecting him from removal appears to violate due process. The Trump administration's resistance to facilitating his return as instructed by the Supreme Court also raises serious issues about respect for the rule of law and separation of powers. This case underscores the need for comprehensive immigration reform that upholds America's core values of human rights, family unity, and adherence to legal processes. Abrego Garcia has no criminal record and is a father of three U.S. citizen children. Deporting him to a notoriously abusive prison appears to be an excessive and inhumane response. I urge you to use your authority to ensure Abrego Garcia is swiftly returned to the United States in compliance with court orders. His wrongful deportation highlights concerning overreach by the executive branch on immigration matters that warrant close Congressional oversight. America must remain a nation of laws where no person is subjected to unlawful deprivation of rights based on their immigration status. Please take all possible steps to resolve this case justly and reassert democratic principles.
