Restore TPS Protections — Congress Must Act Now

To: Sen. Cruz, Rep. Casar, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Manor, TX

June 25

Congress has the power to stop the termination of Temporary Protected Status, and I expect you to use it. Stripping TPS from hundreds of thousands of people who have built lives, families, and careers here is cruel and inhumane. These are not abstractions — they are neighbors, coworkers, and parents of American citizens being threatened with forced removal to countries they may barely remember. TPS holders were granted protection because their home countries faced war, natural disasters, or conditions too dangerous for safe return. Those conditions have not simply disappeared because an administration decided to end the program. Congress created TPS, and Congress can restore and protect it. I want you to introduce or co-sponsor legislation that codifies TPS protections and prevents this administration from unilaterally dismantling them. Do not wait for the courts to fix what you have the authority to address directly.
