Vote No on H.R. 7661, the Federal Book Banning Bill

To: Sen. Peters, Sen. Slotkin, Rep. Moolenaar

From: A constituent in Mount Pleasant, MI

April 27

I'm asking you to oppose H.R. 7661 and vote against this legislation. This bill represents federal overreach into local school decisions and will restrict what books and educational materials students can access. H.R. 7661 targets marginalized communities and deepens divisions in our schools. The federal government has no business dictating which books belong on library shelves. These decisions should remain with local educators, librarians, and families who understand their communities' needs. Instead of restricting access to books, Congress should support legislation that actually helps students. I encourage you to back H.R. 6440, the Right to Read Act, and H.R. 7691, the Fight Book Bans Act. These bills fund education and increase student literacy rather than censoring what young people can read. Your constituents are watching how you vote on this issue. Stand against censorship and vote no on H.R. 7661.
