STOP the SCREEN Act

To: Sen. Padilla, Sen. Schiff, Rep. Lofgren

From: A constituent in San Juan Bautista, CA

August 14

I write to you to DEMAND that you oppose any and all versions of the SCREEN Act. Senator Mike Lee has introduced the Shielding Children's Retinas from Egregious Exposure on the Net (SCREEN) Act, which is nothing more than an attack on free speech and an attempt to silence all LGBTQIA2S+ people. The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention has issued a red flag warning for the ongoing genocide of trans people in the United States, and this is a huge part of it. It would erase us from the Internet, making it illegal for us to so much as talk about our life experiences or immutable conditions of our birth. This is discriminatory, bigoted, incredibly dangerous genocidal legislation attempting to classify trans and queer people as “pornographic” simply for existing. Please fight this bill with everything you have. And remember, the right will NOT remember your concessions, but I and many others will NEVER forget your betrayal of us through your actions in congress. I will not forget this when your seat is up for re-election.
