The National Weather Service and NOAA play a vital role in monitoring weather patterns, forecasting extreme events, and tracking the impacts of climate change. Their data and expertise are essential for protecting public safety and advancing scientific understanding. Dismantling or privatizing these agencies, as proposed in Project 2025, would be highly detrimental. It would undermine our ability to prepare for and respond to intensifying disasters like hurricanes, floods, and heat waves. Instead of compromising these critical resources, we should be bolstering our climate resilience efforts backed by the best available science and data from NOAA and the National Weather Service. Safeguarding these agencies ensures access to accurate, life-saving information for all Americans.
