Reinstate Funding to the IMLS

To: Sen. Ossoff, Rep. Greene, Sen. Warnock

From: A constituent in Acworth, GA

April 13, 2025

This executive order from the White House targeting the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) for elimination is extremely concerning. IMLS funding, while a tiny fraction of the federal budget at less than 0.003%, has an enormous positive impact in communities across the nation. From technology training for job seekers to services for Americans with disabilities, library programming supported by IMLS truly transforms lives. Eliminating this agency would devastate these vital community services that millions rely on. The intent to undermine IMLS is shortsighted and perilous. I urge you to take immediate action to overturn this executive order and protect funding for IMLS, ensuring libraries nationwide can continue their essential work empowering our communities through access to knowledge, resources, and opportunity. The benefits IMLS provides to your constituents and all Americans cannot be overstated.
