To All Governors and State Legislators,
We the People are speaking clearly and without hesitation: we do not consent to concentration camps in our cities, our counties, or our states.
We reject them morally.
We reject them historically.
We reject them legally.
We reject them as human beings.
No government that claims to represent the people has the right to imprison families, cage children, or warehouse human beings for seeking safety, dignity, and survival. These facilities are not “detention centers.” They are CONCENTRATION CAMPS. They are systems of cruelty, fear, and dehumanization — and they have no place in any society that claims to value freedom, justice, or human rights.
We demand the immediate shutdown of all existing detention facilities.
We demand the immediate release of those being held.
We demand the end of all cooperation with ICE and Border Patrol at the state and local level — including 287(g) agreements, data sharing, and joint operations.
Immigrants are not invaders. They are workers, parents, caregivers, students, neighbors, and essential members of our communities. They are human beings — deserving of dignity, safety, and respect.
Your duty is not to cruelty.
Your duty is not to fear.
Your duty is not to federal enforcement regimes that violate basic human rights.
Your duty is to the people.
Protect all people — or step aside for leaders who will.
History will remember what you choose
