I am writing as a concerned constituent from Levittown, NY, regarding a report from the New York Times detailing a 2019 covert mission authorized by former President Donald Trump involving SEAL Team 6 inside North Korea.
According to the reporting:
The mission aimed to secretly plant a surveillance device to monitor Kim Jong Un’s communications.
SEALs encountered civilian fishermen, mistakenly identified them as hostile forces, and opened fire, killing 2–3 civilians.
Bodies were reportedly tampered with to prevent detection by North Korea.
The mission suffered from major operational failures, including no live drone feeds, communications blackouts, and faulty night-vision equipment.
The Pentagon classified the incident as “justified” and withheld information from Congress and the public.
Several personnel involved were later promoted.
Legal experts suggest these actions may have violated federal law.
Given the gravity of these allegations—including civilian deaths, potential violations of federal law, and deliberate withholding of information from Congress—I urge you to initiate a full and transparent investigation into this mission, including oversight of any legal, ethical, and operational breaches.
As my Senators, I trust you will act to ensure accountability, uphold the rule of law, and provide transparency to the American public.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I look forward to your prompt response and action.
