Oppose Anti-Vax Influencer Casey Means for US Surgeon General

To: Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand

From: A verified voter in Hawthorne, NY

May 9

The US Surgeon General oversees the US Public Health Service, provides health advice, and is known as "the nation's doctor." Donald Trump's latest US Surgeon General nominee, wellness influencer Casey Means, has a lapsed medical license and a concerning history of promoting lies about lifesaving childhood immunizations. Means has correctly expressed alarm over the troubling epidemic of chronic illnesses in the United States. However, many of her proposed remedies, from raw milk to the aforementioned reduction in childhood vaccinations to dubious supplements that she sells, ignore the root causes of poor health in pursuit of pseudoscientific "cures" that conveniently make her money. Means is an antivax quack who belongs nowhere near the Department of Health and Human Services, particularly amid an accelerating deadly measles outbreak. The Senate must demand a competent, scientifically grounded appointee for our nation's doctor.
