Vote no on redistricting

To: Gov. Lee, Sen. Reeves, Rep. Sparks

From: A constituent in Smyrna, TN

May 4

I am writing out of concern for the obvious power grab being conducted by the governor and legislature. Our constitution requires redistricting one every ten years. However, the governor and and others, want to take representation away from anyone who doesn’t agree with them with their special session. Statewide, 35% of voters do not support the Republican Party, but they still deserve to have their voices heard in Congress! The change we need in this state is to for representation to be proportional. Democrats should have at least 3 seats in Congress. You have already taken one of those seats away before the 2024 election. If we are to be true to the idea of “We the People,” then everyone should have a voice in Congress not just republicans. At minimum, we should leave the congressional maps as they are. But if you truly care about what is fair then you would return the map to allow Davidson County residents to have their voice. This isn’t about race, it’s about fairness in political representation. While I hold out hope that, the legislature will do the right thing considering you represent all Tennesseans, I certainly won’t hold my breath.
