I am writing out of concern about the US military plans to use Puerto Rico as a launch point for attacks on alleged drug traffickers. Puerto Rico is being set up to be a wasteland. Vieques was bombed and poisoned for decades under the same excuses we’re hearing from Pete Hegseth today. The result was toxic soil, poisoned water, and cancer rates off the charts. Generations paid the price for America’s war games. I urge you to add the Vieques Recovery and Redevelopment Act to the NDAA. We must deliver justice for Puerto Rico first. If Donald Trump militarizes Puerto Rico, we shouldn't send troops onto poisoned land and we certainly shouldn't create more of it. Puerto Rico and its struggling people deserve better than being used as pawns in questionably legal acts of war in the Gulf of MEXICO. The Trump Administration doesn't care whose lives get destroyed by his ambitions and Puerto Ricans have always been cast aside by him. It will be worse this time. Thank you for all you do.
