I am a survivor of human trafficking. I was held for nearly three years from 2005 to 2007 in a labour trafficking situation as a domestic servant. It is as a survivor that I am writing the office of Sen Peters exclusively tonight. Earlier today, the current president delivered a long, winding, convoluted speech to the United Nations General Assembly. His monologue included a not unusual number of distortions, conspiracy theories, and outright lies. He also included a bit of hate speech. I would be merely embarrassed, except that trump also included this in his speech: "Any system that results in the mass trafficking of children is inherently evil, yet that is exactly what the globalist migration agenda has done, and it's what it's all about." Some facts: * Most human trafficking cases are labour trafficking. * Half of human trafficking victims are women, and half men. * Viewing a separate demographic, half of human trafficking victims are children, and half adults. * The vast majority of human trafficking victims are Black, Indigenous, and other People of Colour. * Some human trafficking victims in the US are taken across the southern border by smugglers. * Most arrive of their own accord, or on accepting a false offer of a real job - without the smuggling aspect. * Human trafficking involves force, fraud, or coercion, not duct tape, rope, and chains. Not contenting himself to merely lie about human trafficking, trump added racism to the mix, accusing LatinX immigrants of engaging in human trafficking and implying that Jewish People are controlling that trafficking process. The word "globalists" is, after all, an anti-Semitic slur. I have since reading trump's speech been physically ill with PTSD symptoms. I have also had to exert quite a lot of effort into not dissociating. That man has absolutely no commitment whatsoever to facts. Every time that he opens his mouth, he issues hate speech. More often than not, he communicates to his more violent followers his approval of any attacks that they might make on liberals, Black People, LatinX People, immigrants, etc. I am therefore begging you to please do a 25th Amendment on him. The violent fascist must be dethroned. (And I deserve to not get dizzy to the point of nausea when I read news about the administration.)
