I can’t f*cking believe SCOTUS has gutted the voting rights act, eviscerating section 2. Section 5 had already been destroyed by Shelby County vs Holder. In doing so, SCOTUS has not only pushed the US back into Jim Crow racial discrimination In access to the vote. SCOTUS has also destroyed its own legitimacy. The jurisprudence of Samuel Alito is dishonest and malicious. The court's partisanship is now in full view. Do you want the U.S. to devolve into a white supremacist fascist theocracy? Do you want the constitution to become a dead letter? Have you ever posted to honor the late John Lewis? Now show us your principles. Congress needs to act. I write to demand that Congress pass the John Lewis voting rights act. I also write to demand root and branch reform of Scotus. I ask you to repudiate the racism and white supremacy implicit in this decision. In case you are interested, look at some foreign newspaper headlines. The nastiness and racist animus of this decision are seen and decried across the world.
