An Open Letter

To: Rep. Moolenaar, Sen. Peters, Sen. Slotkin

From: A constituent in Rockford, MI

April 30

Pass the Tax Returns and Ethics Transparency Act I am a voting constituent writing to express my strong support for the Tax Returns and Ethics Transparency Act. This legislation mandates that all members of Congress release their tax returns, and I urge you to champion its passage immediately. The American people have had enough of the financial shenanigans and lack of transparency that have come to define Washington. Public service is a public trust, yet that trust is consistently undermined when representatives hide their financial interests while voting on policies that affect the national economy. It is impossible for the public to ensure that their representatives are acting in the best interest of the country—rather than their own bank accounts—without full disclosure. Transparency is not a partisan issue; it is a fundamental requirement for a functioning democracy. By supporting this bill, you demonstrate a commitment to accountability and help restore faith in our government institutions. Voters deserve to know if their elected officials are profiting from their positions or have conflicts of interest that influence their legislative duties. The time for excuses has passed. I urge you to co-sponsor this bill and work toward its swift passage.
