Urgent Demand for Oversight and Accountability for Jeffery Epstein Files

To: Rep. McGovern, Sen. Markey, Sen. Warren

From: A constituent in Hopkinton, MA

February 5

I am writing to you today as a concerned constituent to express my deep dissatisfaction with the current state of the Jeffrey Epstein investigations. While the recent release of files under the Epstein Files Transparency Act is a step toward public disclosure, it is far from achieving true justice for the survivors or the American people. The Department of Justice’s recent declaration that its obligations are "complete" is unacceptable. I am calling on your office to: Launch a Congressional Inquiry into the DOJ’s Failure to Prosecute Enablers: The files released thus far highlight a vast network of individuals who facilitated, funded, or ignored Epstein’s crimes. The DOJ's apparent reluctance to charge high-profile associates and "enablers" suggests a tiered justice system that protects the powerful. Investigate Redaction Abuses: Recent reports indicate that the DOJ has used redactions not just to protect victims, but potentially to shield politically exposed persons and government officials. I urge you to demand the release of unredacted files to the relevant House and Senate Intelligence and Judiciary Committees. Address Victim Privacy Failures: The "clawback" of thousands of documents due to the accidental release of victim identities on January 30, 2026, demonstrates a catastrophic level of institutional incompetence. We need an independent audit of how the DOJ handled this process. End the Culture of Non-Prosecution: For too long, federal agencies have prioritized "moving on" over holding co-conspirators accountable. Congress must use its power of the purse and oversight subpoenas to ensure the DOJ is not obstructing justice through inaction. The American people deserve to know the full truth, and the survivors deserve to see every perpetrator and facilitator face the legal consequences of their actions. Transparency without accountability is merely a performance. I look forward to hearing about the specific steps you will take to ensure the Department of Justice fulfills its duty to provide equal justice under the law.
