I am writing as a concerned and outraged constituent to demand immediate action in response to President Trump’s continued and blatant use of the presidency for personal enrichment.
Over his first 100 days in office, President Trump and his family have launched a disturbing number of profitable ventures, including cryptocurrency schemes, luxury clubs, and international business deals, that shamelessly blur the line between public service and private gain. Ethics experts across the political spectrum have called this behavior unprecedented, and I couldn’t agree more.
This is not governance, this is grift. The presidency should never be a personal piggy bank, yet that is precisely how it is being used without regard for ethics, transparency, or the public trust. Every day this is allowed to continue, it erodes the integrity of our democratic institutions and further alienates the American people from those who are supposed to represent us.
Congress has the constitutional power (and the responsibility!) to act as a check on the executive branch. That includes investigating corruption, enforcing ethical standards, and, when necessary, pursuing accountability through legislative and oversight measures. I urge you to use every tool at your disposal to stop this dangerous abuse of power.
Silence is complicity. Your constituents are watching how you are responding (or not) during these horrifying and unprecedented times. I fully expect that you will do your constitutional duty and take every possible action to stop these illegal and unethical activities.
