Maine physicians, including myself, have concerns regarding Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s nomination for Secretary of Health and Human Services. His anti-vaccine views and lack of experience in healthcare should deeply alarm all Americans who care about public health and preventing the spread of preventable diseases. As you rightly stated, RFK Jr. has yet to undergo public hearings where his questionable qualifications can be thoroughly examined. However, his track record of spreading misinformation about vaccines and rejecting mainstream science is already well-established. Mainers and all citizens deserve an HHS Secretary committed to promoting evidence-based policies that protect people's health and safety, not an ideologue bent on undermining public confidence in vaccines and modern medicine. I urge you to stand firm against this troubling nomination that threatens to undermine our nation's public health infrastructure and pandemic preparedness. RFK Jr.'s fringe views have no place leading an agency tasked with safeguarding the wellbeing of all Americans.
