Provide accurate fuel cost data, avoid unsubstantiated claims

To: Rep. Feenstra, Pres. Trump, Sen. Ernst, Sen. Grassley

President Trump is blatantly lying about gas prices being significantly lower across multiple states. Recent data from reputable sources like AAA and GasBuddy clearly contradicts his false claims of prices as low as $1.88 or $1.98 per gallon in certain states. The national average on May 2nd was around $3.19 per gallon according to AAA, with the lowest state average being $2.66 in Mississippi. GasBuddy's analysis found no gas stations nationwide actually offering fuel below $2 per gallon during the timeframe Trump referenced. These lies about drastically reduced gas costs are completely divorced from the factual pricing information available from authoritative sources. Trump's unsubstantiated claims misrepresent economic realities and do a disservice to American consumers and businesses looking for accurate data to make informed decisions.
