Ratify cedaw

To: Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand

From: A constituent in Hemlock, NY

August 30

I am writing as your constituent to strongly urge you to support and advance the ratification of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). The United States signed CEDAW in 1980, yet more than four decades later it remains one of the few countries that has not ratified this landmark international treaty. CEDAW provides a comprehensive framework to eliminate discrimination against women in political, economic, social, cultural, and civil life. It addresses critical issues including equal pay, access to education and healthcare, protection from gender-based violence, and women’s full participation in public life.
