Oppose Kushner's Gaza Plan and Support Immediate Humanitarian Relief

To: Pres. Trump, Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted, Sen. Wilson, Rep. Mathews, Gov. DeWine, Rep. Landsman

From: A constituent in Lebanon, OH

January 22

I am writing to urge you to publicly oppose Jared Kushner's so-called "New Gaza" plan presented at Davos on January 22, 2025, and instead support immediate humanitarian relief for Palestinians facing catastrophic conditions. Kushner's four-phase master plan proposes building luxury apartments, data centers, and futuristic skyscrapers over Rafah, the southern Gaza town that Israeli forces razed in 2024 after forcing hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians to leave. This $25 billion proposal includes constructing "New Rafah" with 100,000 housing units, 75 medical facilities, and coastal tourism zones where a humanitarian crisis currently exists. International lawyer Itay Epshtain correctly noted the proposal is "not anchored in law, nor in facts. Just glossy real estate pitch decks" while real humanitarian relief is sidelined. The context makes this plan particularly unconscionable. Israel's US-backed assault on Gaza since 2023 has killed more than 71,000 people and destroyed more than 90% of housing units. Gaza had 36 hospitals before the conflict, but fewer than 14 were partially functional as of October. People are being killed and starved right now, yet this administration treats Gaza as what Trump called "a beautiful piece of property" and a "future investment project" rather than addressing urgent human needs. The "Board of Peace" overseeing this plan includes no Palestinians and has no support from major US European allies. Netanyahu, who has overseen this destruction, sits on this board. This is not a peace plan. It is, as entrepreneur David Haddad stated, a plan to "kill as many as possible, then gentrify the rest out." I urge you to demand an immediate end to US support for military operations in Gaza, call for unrestricted humanitarian aid access, and reject any reconstruction plans that do not center Palestinian self-determination and human rights. Your constituents expect you to stand against policies that enable mass civilian death and displacement.
