To: Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters, Rep. Moolenaar

From: A constituent in Rockford, MI

July 6

The establishment of the "Alligator Alcatraz" migrant detention facility raises significant concerns regarding the potential for human rights abuses, safety hazards, and environmental impacts. Denying lawmakers access to this facility obstructs critical oversight responsibilities and transparency. As elected representatives, it is imperative that you demand unimpeded entry to thoroughly assess the conditions and ensure the humane treatment of detainees. Furthermore, the rhetoric surrounding this facility, including references to feeding people to alligators, is deeply alarming and dehumanizing. Such inflammatory language only fuels an environment conducive to misconduct and abuse. I urge you to take immediate action to gain access, investigate any potential violations, and hold the administration accountable for upholding basic human rights and ethical standards within this controversial detention center. Failing to do so would be a dereliction of duty and a disservice to the principles of justice and human dignity.
