ICE are the law-breakers. Not the detainees. Do oversight & criminal referrals

To: Sen. Collins, Sen. King, Rep. Golden

From: A verified voter in Lewiston, ME

July 22

Terrible reports are coming about abusive and cruel treatment by ICE: detainees being forced to eat off plates on the ground while their hands were shackled. Detainees being denied medical care. Horrific mosquitoes at the Florida detention center. Already we know of 13 people who have died in ICE custody. Managers of facilities continue to DEFY the law--- yes, THEY not the detainees--are breaking the law--by refusing to comply with legally mandated congressional oversight. You should be ashamed and horrified that the constitution is being violated and ICE employees are conducting themselves snd their facilities in ways that violate the law, the constitution, due process rights and protocols about the treatment of their victims. Yes: the criminals are the ICE staff. You need to address this now by legislation and oversight. Support the no-mask law for ICE. Hold hearings. Enforce your right to oversight. Investigate every death in custody and make referrals to justice and law enforcement. Do not allow this to continue.
