Reject Trump honors, uphold democratic ideals at Kennedy Center

To: Sen. Slotkin, Rep. Moolenaar, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in Rockford, MI

July 29

No to naming anything after Trump or Melania. The Kennedy Center should honor those who have made positive cultural contributions that unite society, not sow division and undermine democracy. Any public recognition or commemoration of the Trump family would be an affront to the ideals of a democratic and inclusive society. The Trump administration's divisive rhetoric, failure to condemn hate, and efforts to overturn a free and fair election represent values that should never be celebrated or memorialized. The Kennedy Center must uphold its commitment to promoting the arts and celebrating those who bring people together, rather than driving them apart.
