SSI Savings Penalty Elimination Act Supplemental Security Income Restoration Act
To: Rep. Amo, Sen. Reed, Sen. Whitehouse
From: A verified voter in Barrington, RI
November 5
I know today is Election Day and you’re very busy, but I wanted to write about an issue that affects both me and my brother. We are both on SSDI. He is 32 and autistic, and I am 38 and have multiple physical disabilities that make me unable to work.
Because of the limits placed by current laws, people like us are unable to save money for our futures. We cannot marry without losing our benefits. We could lose our healthcare if we have more than $2000 in the bank.
I urge you to vote in favor of the SSI Savings Penalty Elimination Act and the Supplemental Security Income Restoration Act. No matter who wins the presidency, social security will need to be bolstered. We want the same rights as abled people: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
