Protect Our National Monuments and Public Lands

To: Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters, Rep. Barrett

From: A constituent in Lansing, MI

July 19

Take a clear stand to protect our national monuments and public lands from reduction, sale, or exploitation. These places belong to all of us — not to extractive industries or private developers — and they deserve permanent, meaningful protection. Once these lands are gone, they're gone. Shrinking monument boundaries or opening protected areas to drilling and mining doesn't just damage ecosystems; it erases history, destroys recreation, and strips future generations of their inheritance. I expect you to oppose any legislation or executive action that weakens protections for public lands and to actively support measures that strengthen them.
