Support Our Constitutional Democracy—Use Every Resource

To: Gov. Hobbs, Rep. Crane, Sen. Finchem, Sen. Kelly, Pres. Trump, Rep. Nguyen, Rep. Bliss, Sen. Gallego

From: A constituent in Prescott, AZ

May 1

I’m writing because Congress is failing in its constitutional duty. The refusal to affirm due process for all persons on U.S. soil is a direct betrayal of the Constitution you swore to uphold. The Fifth Amendment does not say “no citizen shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property.” It says “no person.” That language is clear, deliberate, and foundational. It is rooted in the Declaration of Independence, codified in law, and affirmed by the courts. By refusing to affirm due process, Congress is confirming that our government no longer adheres to the Constitution and American democracy. Due process is not a courtesy. It is a constraint on power. A government that denies due process is no longer operating within the framework of the Constitution. It is not the government the American people consented to or created. Please use every public and private resource at your disposal to oppose this betrayal and to protect and defend the Constitution. America—all Americans—and the world will thank you in the history books.
