TRUMP’S ILLEGAL TAXES: GIVE IT BACK! I’m writing because I am furious about the hidden and unlawful tariff taxes that have been taken out of the pockets of families, workers, and small businesses through tariffs and other backdoor cuts and policies that resulted in national embarrassment, lost brand value, ruined alliances, job cuts, devalued USD, provoked inflation, and gave cover for profiteering price hikes. These costs were sold to the public as something “foreign countries would pay,” but we all know that importers and consumers are the ones who actually foot the bill through higher prices on everyday goods. I want my refund. These deeply unconstitutional and obviously flawed policies have functioned as a stealth tax on poor and working‑class people, families with kids, and small businesses that can least afford it. While large corporations and well‑connected interests find ways to protect their profits, the rest of us pay more for food, clothes, appliances, and basic necessities. That is wrong, and it is economically and morally indefensible. I am asking you to: 1. Publicly acknowledge that tariffs and similar policies are paid by U.S. importers and consumers, not foreign governments. 2. Repeal or roll back these harmful tariffs and any related hidden taxes that raise prices on basic goods for ordinary people. 3. Support legislation that: - Directs revenue collected from these measures back to consumers and families through targeted refunds, rebates, or tax credits, and - Prioritizes relief for low‑income households and small businesses that bore the brunt of these costs. If we can track and collect this money, we can also design ways to return it. Congress has a responsibility to recognize when policy mistakes effectively overtax the public and to fix it. Money was taken from me unlawfully. The very first thing Congress must do is cancel Trump’s ridiculous new tariff taxes—and then return my money. The midterms are right around the corner and I’m asking you to fight for policies that put money back in the hands of the people who actually paid these tariffs. Encourage your Republican colleagues to do the lawful thing. I’ll take your actions (or lack of representation) into account in my vote. Thank you for your time and service.
