Urging Senate Democrats to Block Federal Contracts to Tesla and Elon Musk
To: Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand

February 18, 2025
I am writing as a concerned constituent to urge you and your colleagues in the Senate to take action in blocking federal contracts, subsidies, and incentives to Tesla and any company under Elon Musk’s control. While Tesla has played a role in advancing electric vehicles and renewable energy, recent developments raise significant ethical, financial, and national security concerns that should not be rewarded with taxpayer dollars.
Elon Musk’s erratic leadership, his companies’ labor rights violations, and his increasingly problematic relationships with foreign entities pose serious risks. Reports of Tesla’s unsafe working conditions, union-busting tactics, and allegations of discrimination and harassment should disqualify the company from benefiting from federal contracts. Additionally, Musk’s control over critical infrastructure, including SpaceX’s Starlink, and his questionable use of power in geopolitical conflicts highlight the dangers of continuing to funnel public resources into his ventures without accountability.
The U.S. government should support companies that align with American values ones that respect workers’ rights, uphold ethical business practices, and do not grant undue influence to billionaire executives who openly undermine democratic institutions. I urge you to push for legislative measures that would prevent federal contracts from being awarded to Tesla and other Musk-led enterprises until they demonstrate a genuine commitment to ethical business practices, national security, and worker protections.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response and hope to see action on this critical issue.
