Hello, I am your constituent. I am writing to urge you to enact government regulations and controls around the development of AI technologies. In the last few days, Jacob Coxon, a 27-year-old researcher who recently resigned from Anthropic, issued a public warning that AI developers believe the technology could "kill us all" by the end of the decade, citing a >10% chance of human extinction. His resignation post, which garnered over 70 million views, accused both Anthropic and OpenAI of "gambling with our lives" by racing toward self-improving superintelligence without adequate safety controls. This follows similar concerns from OpenAI Chief Scientist Jakub Pachocki, who warned that AI capabilities are advancing faster than researchers can monitor them, and an open letter signed by nearly 1,400 AI employees urging the U.S. government to pace the frontier of automated AI development. If the people who are developing this technology are urging you to enact regulations around this, we should be very very concerned. Congress must act to regulate AI development rather than relying on voluntary industry frameworks. I implore you to please take this seriously and to champion regulatory measures as it may be what saves humanity. Thank you for your consideration
