Since early 2025 there have been at least 22 Black people found hanging from trees. Most of these deaths were ruled suicides. The families and Black leaders across the U.S. and I disagree. There has been a lack of investigations in these cases.
Please open investigations into the ways these deaths are being dismissed. Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley is leading a group of 60 representatives calling for the Department of Justice to investigate these deaths. Please join her group.
I am appalled by the lack of investigation of Black people dying by hanging, deaths in ICE detention facilities, death at the hands of law enforcement, death due to laws restricting reproductive health and death of trans people as a result of attacks on them. Please right these wrongs. No one should die because of who they are.
