I am writing as a concerned resident of Falls Township to express my opposition to the data center construction at the Keystone Trade Center in Morrisville. While I understand the importance of technological infrastructure, I believe this development poses significant risks to our community’s well-being and environment. There are 30+ schools within a 6 mile radius, as well as a plethora of daycares, residential neighborhoods, places of worship and parks.
My concerns include:
• Children at risk with unknown long term impacts on health
• Environmental impact on property, ecosystem, water system, people, their animals, & wildlife
• High water consumption and drought
• High energy demands
• Increased utility bills
• Pollution, noise, sound, lights
• Emergencies like fires at the site
• Reduced property values
• Expansion of this project or other centers
• Lack of transparency- if they are using public resources, the public deserves to know how much
• Lack of understanding or trust in the overlay and zoning process
• Zoning being changed for the sake of placing this data center even though it puts thousands of people at risk and only provides 125 jobs
• Lack of respectfully listening to, addressing or seriously considering concerns, suggestions or alternatives
• Lack of input from independent experts
• Permitting data centers, industries & technology centers close to residential zones
• Lack of strong protections in the overlay as proposed
• Lack of significant permanent jobs
• Tax increases at the benefit of Amazon
I urge you use your power to postpone any data center project while you form a commission of independent experts in relevant fields to do a thorough, independent review of the environmental and social impacts, ensure robust public engagement from randomly selected citizens and from residents around the proposed location, and explore alternative locations or opportunities that minimize harm to our community.
Thank you for your time, attention, and dedication to protecting the well-being of our community. I look forward to your response and to participating in any upcoming public discussions on this matter.
