I’m writing to express my strong support for Congress using its Article I authority to withhold funding that enables unconstitutional and authoritarian conduct by the Trump administration.
This moment calls for restraint of executive power, not its expansion. Continuing to fund agencies and operations that disregard appropriations law, retaliate against states and members of Congress, politicize the military, and deploy federal force against civilians is not neutral governance—it is complicity.
I strongly support:
-- Refusing a clean continuing resolution
-- Rejecting any expansion of the already enormous defense budget
-- Defunding abusive immigration enforcement and unlawful military actions
-- Conditioning appropriations on full constitutional compliance
The courts are slow, and agencies have been compromised. Congress’s power of the purse remains the most immediate and effective check available.
Thank you for your continued leadership in defending the Constitution and resisting the consolidation of unchecked executive power. I stand firmly with you in these efforts.
