Pass Explicit Workplace Protections for Transgender Employees

To: Sen. Slotkin, Rep. Walberg, Sen. Peters

From: A verified voter in Stevensville, MI

June 15

Transgender workers in this country need explicit, codified protections in the workplace, and I need you to champion that legislation now. The current patchwork of court interpretations leaves too many people vulnerable to discrimination in hiring, firing, and daily working conditions. That uncertainty is not acceptable. Transgender people deserve the same clear, unambiguous right to earn a living without fear of being fired for who they are. Pass legislation that explicitly names gender identity as a protected class in employment law. This is a basic matter of economic dignity, and your constituents are watching how you act on it.
