Illegal diversion of funds from NSF Research Budget

I am writing today regarding the NYT article describing the diversion of $1.4B in funding from the NSF by the Trump administration. The article, published on 10/2/2026, describes this as a “power grab.” But this is an illegal and intentional misappropriation of funds, and I expect congress to fight back. Research funding improves our lives, provides local technical and skilled jobs even at the entry level, and funnels the funding directly back to American businesses by law. It is an easy and usually bipartisan investment in the American economy and national security. Please work towards releasing these funds and preventing their diversion or misappropriation.
