Save the Boundary Waters: No HJ Res 140, No S. 2967
YES to HR 588 &
S. 1366
To: Sen. Collins, Sen. King, Rep. Golden
From: A verified voter in Lewiston, ME
April 2
Please save all of our wild places and protect them from roads, mining and toxic polluting industries carried out for short term private gain. We don't need any more privatising the profits and socialising losses and damage.
Today I ask you to please:
VOTE NO on HJ Res 140.
And NO on S. 2967
The Boundary Waters are a spectacular area of unspoiled wilderness: they do not belong to us to ruin; why would we want to leave toxic forever pollution for our descendants? -- least of all for the sake of profits going to a Chilean magnate connected to Jared Kushner?
You are surely aware that the Boundary waters bring in more money annually from tourism than will be made from one-off ruinous mining.
There is broad bipartisan support for saving the boundary waters from mining and pollution.
In due course please sign on to sponsor, declare your support, and vote for, the upcoming legislation that will PROTECT the Boundary Waters:
Rep. Betty McCollum’s bill (H.R. 588) and Sen Tina Smith’s bill (S. 1366) would permanently protect the more than 225,000 acres of public land next to the Boundary Waters for your descendants.
