Stand firm on congressional power to authorize funding

To: Rep. LaLota, Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand

From: A constituent in Miller Place, NY

February 25

Congress must insist on retaining the power to authorize funding. Do not give up this power as part of negotiations around the impending shutdown. I can not imagine why Republican members of Congress wish to allow the executive branch to make them irrelevant! The danger of losing our democracy is more serious with each overreach by the Executive branch. Republican or Democratic politics aside, there will be no more Congress for you to serve in if we continue down this path. Your responsibility is to the country and your constituents to stand firm on separation of powers.
