Today’s motivation to withhold DHS funding: Leqaa Kordia. She has been unlawfully held in detention for 11 months in Texas, despite not breaking any laws. Ms. Kordia recently suffered a medical emergency and is hospitalized. ICE is not sharing her location or condition with her counsel or family. Please use your position to advocate for her immediate release. She was targeted simply for exercising her right to free speech, speaking out against the genocide in Gaza.
Ms. Kordia is only one example of the deeply disturbing lack of transparency about the condition of people held in DHS custody, especially those with medical issues. Measles cases are reportedly springing up among children in detention. We cannot allow the medical neglect and abuses to continue. Never forget: Anne Frank died from a disease.
Hold the line and block all DHS funding until meaningful, binding restrictions on ICE and CBP are passed into law. Then, disband DHS entirely.
