Rectify wrongful deportation and bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia home

To: Rep. Lawler, Sen. Gillibrand, Sen. Schumer

From: A constituent in Somers, NY

April 16

The wrongful deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador is an injustice that must be rectified. Despite court orders, the Trump administration has failed to take meaningful steps to facilitate his return to the United States. This defiance of the rule of law and disregard for due process is unacceptable. As a legal permanent resident with family ties in the U.S., Mr. Abrego Garcia should never have been deported in the first place. The fact that he now languishes in a notorious Salvadoran prison, separated from his wife and children with disabilities, compounds this travesty. The spurious gang allegations used to justify his removal lack any credible evidence. I urge you to use all available diplomatic channels to secure Mr. Abrego Garcia's prompt release and safe return to his home and family in the United States. His continued detention is a stain on America's commitment to human rights and justice. Decisive action is needed to uphold the court rulings, bring this nightmare to an end, and restore some measure of dignity to this unjustly persecuted man and his loved ones.
