Impeach Trump for Illegal Iran Strikes While Maintaining Focus on Epstein Files

To: Rep. Quigley, Sen. Duckworth, Sen. Durbin

From: A constituent in Chicago, IL

February 28

I am writing to urge you to support impeachment proceedings against President Trump for launching unauthorized military strikes against Iran on Saturday morning. These joint U.S.-Israel attacks constitute acts of war conducted without congressional authorization, violating the Constitution's requirement that Congress alone holds the power to declare war. Rep. Thomas Massie and Rep. Ro Khanna had planned to force votes this week on legislation to curb Trump's ability to take unilateral military action against Iran, but the Saturday strikes preempted their war powers vote. This timing suggests deliberate circumvention of congressional oversight. Sen. Mark Warner warned that these strikes against "a broad set of targets, including senior Iranian leadership" risk pulling the United States into another broad conflict in the Middle East. Rep. Jim Himes, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, correctly characterized this as "a war of choice with no strategic endgame." Trump himself acknowledged in a Saturday morning video that "the lives of courageous American heroes may be lost and we may have casualties," yet proceeded without congressional approval. This represents a clear violation of constitutional separation of powers and warrants impeachment. However, I am deeply concerned that this crisis will be used as a convenient distraction from the ongoing investigations into the Epstein files. The American people deserve transparency and accountability on both fronts. The Epstein case involves allegations of systemic abuse and potential complicity by powerful individuals, and it cannot be allowed to fade from public scrutiny simply because a new crisis has emerged. History shows us that manufactured urgency often serves to bury inconvenient truths. I ask that you publicly support impeachment proceedings, vote for the war powers resolution when it comes to the floor, and simultaneously ensure that investigations into the Epstein files continue with full vigor and transparency. Both issues demand accountability. Do not allow one constitutional crisis to eclipse another matter of critical public interest.
