I am writing to voice my strong opposition to the SAVE act. The right to vote is a critical cornerstone of our democracy and MUST be protected.
My 97-year-old mother has cognitive abilities that often exceed mine, and she has been politically active and engaged her entire life. She never misses an election. Because she was married, her current name doesn’t match the name on her birth certificate and her passport expired years ago. If this bill is enacted, she would no longer be allowed to vote. I dare you to tell her that! She may be wheelchair-bound, but I promise you, she will make damn sure you and everyone else knows what she thinks about taking away her sacred right to vote.
