Reconsider Harmful Tariffs on Film Industry, Explore Incentives

To: Sen. Husted, Rep. Balderson, Pres. Trump, Sen. Moreno

From: A constituent in Reynoldsburg, OH

May 6

Tariffs and chaos are harmful to the economy. The president's proposed 100% tariffs on films made outside the United States would be highly disruptive and harmful to the economy. Imposing punitive tariffs without a clear strategy or industry consultation risks causing mass confusion, retaliatory actions from trade partners, and potentially catastrophic consequences for the film industry's complex global supply chains. Rather than pursuing protectionist policies, we should explore solutions that truly safeguard American economic interests, such as federal tax incentives to attract more film production domestically. Unilateral tariffs are an ill-conceived approach that could kneecap a vital creative industry, eliminate American jobs, and undermine our nation's economic competitiveness. I urge you to reconsider this counterproductive plan and instead work constructively with all stakeholders to support the film industry's continued success.
