Protect federal grants, uphold separation of powers and programs

The Trump administration's abrupt freeze on all federal grants and loans is reckless and damaging, with far-reaching consequences that imperil our communities. From research into lifesaving medical treatments to assistance for housing, food, domestic violence shelters, and crisis hotlines, this blanket suspension puts vital services at risk and jeopardizes the wellbeing of citizens across the nation. A temporary restraining order has rightly been issued to halt this detrimental action, recognizing the severe and irreparable harm it would inflict. However, a more robust response is crucial to protect essential programs and uphold the separation of powers. I urge you to join the coalition of states suing the administration to safeguard the funding that sustains indispensable initiatives and supports vulnerable populations. This overreach cannot be allowed to devastate the operations that countless individuals rely upon for their safety, health, and livelihoods. Decisive legal action is necessary to defend against such an egregious undermining of Congress's power and the administration's obligations to the American people.
