Save the DOE

To: Sen. Blackburn, Sen. Hagerty, Rep. Rose

From: A constituent in Nashville, TN

February 7

Harry Stewart Jr., a decorated World War II pilot and one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen, has died. He was 100 years old. As much as the Trump administration tries to erase black history — in the middle of Black History Month — we should not forget such heroes. The Department of Education must not be eviscerated. It should be strengthened so that brave Americans of all stripes inspire future generations. And so young people can learn how to add, subtract, read, write, and think. Please vote against any effort to diminish education, because weak minds beget weak countries. Speak out loud, on the floor and on media, for teachers and students, and against those who think small cuts today won't hurt our country more and more as the years go on.
