I am demanding that you immediately initiate impeachment proceedings against President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for conducting an unconstitutional war in Syria that has cost American lives without congressional authorization.
On Friday, the administration launched strikes against 70 targets across central Syria using F-15 Eagle jets, A-10 Thunderbolt aircraft, AH-64 Apache helicopters, F-16 fighter jets, and HIMARS rocket artillery, deploying more than 100 precision munitions. This followed an attack near Palmyra that killed Iowa National Guard members Sgt. Edgar Brian Torres-Tovar, 25, of Des Moines, and Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard, 29, of Marshalltown, along with civilian interpreter Ayad Mansoor Sakat of Macomb, Michigan. These deaths are the direct result of an illegal military deployment that Congress never authorized.
The administration has failed to provide any legitimate justification for why American troops remain in Syria. Trump claimed he would focus resources in the Western Hemisphere, yet continues an undefined mission that puts service members in mortal danger. This is not a minor policy disagreement. This is a flagrant violation of Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution, which grants Congress alone the power to declare war and authorize military operations.
Hegseth's characterization of these strikes as "a declaration of vengeance" exposes the reckless mindset driving this administration's foreign policy. Military action must serve strategic national security interests, not satisfy impulses for retribution. This statement alone demonstrates unfitness for office.
Congress must act now to stop this unconstitutional war. Impeach and remove both Trump and Hegseth. Demand the immediate withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Syria. Every day you delay, more service members risk their lives in an illegal operation that serves no defined American interest.
The Constitution is not a suggestion. Enforce it. Three Americans are dead because this administration refuses to follow the law. How many more deaths will you allow before taking action?
