Stop Enabling Genocide: I Will Not Be Complicit in Palestine’s Oppression

To: Gov. Shapiro, Sen. Farry, Rep. Hogan

From: A constituent in Feasterville Trevose, PA

September 5

I write to you with a heavy heart, burdened by the atrocities committed against the people of Palestine. The recent violence in Gaza and the West Bank is not isolated, but part of a long campaign of ethnic cleansing rooted in colonialism and apartheid. What we witness today is a continuation of the Nakba—the catastrophe that began in 1948, when Palestinians were forcibly displaced, their homes and lands stolen. Over 75 years later, the Nakba has not ended. The violence and oppression only grow as the world remains complicit. By supporting this violence—through funding and arming Israel’s apartheid regime—the United States enables and consents to genocide. I refuse to be part of that. I will not let any politician talk me out of my humanity or silence my opposition. When we, as a nation, provide unwavering support to leaders like Benjamin Netanyahu, we approve his violent policies and racist rhetoric. Netanyahu has openly called for the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, trampling international law and basic human rights. His government expands illegal settlements, wages brutal military operations, and denies Palestinians the right to live freely on their land. This is apartheid. This is genocide. How can the U.S., claiming to stand for democracy and human rights, support these blatant crimes? How can we preach freedom and justice while funding and defending oppression? To my elected representatives, I demand that you stop voting to destroy Palestine. Each vote for military aid to Israel supports an ongoing system of occupation and apartheid. With each vote, you align yourself with those responsible for these atrocities. I will not let you dismiss my moral duty to oppose genocide or the humanity of the Palestinian people. There is no justification for the bombings, blockades, and collective punishment inflicted on millions of innocent Palestinians. As an American, I refuse to fund the systematic dehumanization of a people. The world is watching, and history will remember how the U.S. chose to act. I urge you to stand on the side of justice—stop the bloodshed, end support for Netanyahu’s government, and demand accountability. Do not ask me to compromise my humanity or consent to genocide.
