Putting a ban on ANY A.I. regulation for 10 years means someone could produce deep fake porn of YOU or YOUR PARTNERS and most importantly YOUR CONSTITUENTS and you will be unable to do anything about it for ten years. Putting a moratorium on ANY A.I. regulation will allow A.I. companies to STEAL the copywritten intellectual property from businesses and individuals alike- and there will be NOTHING we can do to stop this. They will be able to enact any unethical methods they want, which they’ve repeatedly shown they will do, with NO repercussions. A.I. CORPORATIONS NEED REGULATIONS IMMEDIATELY, not cart blanche to act with impunity. The comparison to the Internet moratorium is important- the Internet tax moratorium allowed the tech giants to amass startling amounts of wealth and power in a very short time, which they have taken to directly harm the public with little to no repercussions via things like Meta’s unauthorized experiments with human psychology, proliferation of misinformation, and election interference (the Cambridge Analytica scandal). We CANNOT allow that to happen again. A.I., unchecked, will destroy the creative sector, take away American jobs, and allow for even more proliferation of deepfakes and misinformation. STOP THE MORATORIUM. STOP GIVING POWER TO THE BILLIONAIRES.
