congress I am writing as a concerned constituent to express my deep concern regarding the recent FDA guidelines that restrict access to the annual COVID-19 vaccine for adults under the age of 65 who are not considered high-risk.
While I understand the importance of prioritizing vulnerable populations, I firmly believe that adults under 65 should still have the option to receive the annual COVID-19 vaccine if they choose to. Many adults in this age group are caregivers, parents, essential workers, or individuals with unrecognized or emerging health risks. They deserve the same opportunity to protect themselves, their families, and their communities.
Limiting access could have broader public health implications, including increased transmission, strain on healthcare systems, and the potential for future variants to emerge in under-vaccinated populations. Furthermore, it undermines public trust when access to preventive care is restricted without clear, evidence-based justification.
I urge you to advocate for policy changes that ensure all adults, regardless of age or risk status, retain the ability to receive annual COVID-19 vaccinations. Public health decisions should empower individuals, not limit access to tools that protect health and save lives.
